Advent 2024

Bridging Connection

FROM THE OFFICE DIRECTOR

As we enter this season of Advent, Pope Francis' recent encyclical aptly reminds us that "Jesus came to meet us, bridging all distances; he became as close to us as the simplest, everyday realities of our lives. Indeed, he has another name, 'Emmanuel', which means 'God with us,' God as part of our lives, God as living in our midst." Dilexit Nos, 34.

Where have you experienced Him showing up in your life? Like the Wise Men who sought this Infant, we are invited to discover His humble, often hidden presence in our lives and in our communities, in our joys and in our sorrows. He has promised to remain with us. We are also invited to imitate Him in bridging all distances, whether that is from our head to our heart or across the aisle, to our sister or brother.

I pray that this season of Advent you may seek this Infant and find His love and presence, the love He came to pour out on each one of us. You are in my daily prayers, Maria
