Archbishop Casey convened Synod 2027 during evening prayer on June 19th, the 205th anniversary of the establishment of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. This ritual moment of prayer in the presence of the people of God is a significant milestone in this journey of faith for our local Church.
Soon, registrations will be open for 60 listening sessions, which will take place throughout the archdiocese during the fall. Details about the Disciple Maker Index will also be available soon so that parish and school leaders will be ready to encourage everyone to participate. We hope you will offer to serve as a facilitator or table host during the listening sessions; descriptions of those roles and digital registration will be available soon. |

The St. Gregory the Great Family of Parishes made an intentional outreach to newly confirmed young people in their Family to encourage them to become actively engaged in ministry. The response was extremely positive, including 57 of the newly confirmed who were recently commissioned as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion.

The Saintly Seven. Were you aware that there are seven African American candidates for canonization? The lives of these holy men and women span the nearly the entire existence of the United States as an independent nation—from Pierre Toussaint, born in 1766, through Thea Bowman, who died in 1990. It will be a truly thrilling day when we celebrate the canonization of the first African American saint!
To grow awareness of the lives of the Saintly Seven over the coming months, the Archdiocesan Anti-Racism Task Force is organizing seven sessions throughout the Archdiocese to talk about their lives, their causes for canonization, and the experience of Black Catholics in this nation. The sessions will be in-person and live-streamed so that everyone can join in the conversation and reflection. More > |
