Conversations in the Spirit |
|
All are invited to participate in Synod 2027 by attending a Conversations in the Spirit session to listen for the prompting of the Holy Spirit and share their personal insights – how they encounter Christ in the local Church.
General and cohort sessions of Conversations in the Spirit have been scheduled throughout the archdiocese, Labor Day through Thanksgiving.
Among the cohorts, six sessions are scheduled specifically for parish staff members, one in each deanery. Parish staff members may attend a general session or a different cohort (such as one for parents of school children) that apply to accommodate calendars and personal preference.
Conversations in the Spirit sessions include a prayerful time of listening for the Holy Spirit and sharing personal insights of the local Church. These sessions aim to bring the faithful into deeper communion with one another and with Christ, and to strengthen the Church’s mission to bring the Gospel to all.

Whether or not your Family of Parishes is a Conversations in the Spirit site, we would appreciate your help in discerning people who might fill three roles in order to make the Conversations in the Spirit as fruitful as possible. We have included a detailed role description for facilitators, table hosts, and house managers.

In 2026-2027, the responses to the Disciple Maker Index will be included in the listening process for Synod 2027. Archdiocesan leaders will review and contemplate the input received from the Disciple Maker Index as they discern the primary themes or questions that will be considered at the Synod General Assembly in fall 2027. Upcoming pastor and parish point of contact orientation sessions will equip parish leaders to communicate and carry out the Disciple Maker Index. |

A toolkit has been created for parish leaders to communicate about Synod 2027, including content to promote Conversations in the Spirit sessions. The toolkit is available on Catholic Social Media on the Resources page under Synod 2027. Communications leaders who do not yet have an account for Catholic Social Media may contact the Communications Department for assistance.
Please share this invitation as broadly as possible in the coming weeks. Sessions begin the first week of September and continue through Thanksgiving. |
