NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR

Many Families of Parishes will be moving into Phase 2 of Beacons of Light this next semester. In the Evangelization Principal, that means a Director of Evangelization has been identified.

The next step will be for the Director for Evangelization to form the Evangelization Team. This team should report to the Director of Evangelization and be comprised of pastoral staff that have a stake in evangelization; this could include the DRE, CRE, Youth Minister, Pastoral Associate, Minister to Adults, or the like.

It will be important for the Director of Evangelization and the Evangelization Team to begin to grow together as a community of disciples on mission together. One way to do that is to set aside dedicated time for prayer and community building. I encourage every Evangelization Team (or soon-to-be Evangelization Team) to attend our Reignite Retreat together this October. We have crafted a retreat for Parish Evangelists that will be both personally uplifting and restful, but also formational for your Evangelization Team. Please see below for all the details.

Registration is open for the Reignite Retreat on Oct. 23 - Oct. 24 at the Spiritual Center of Maria Stein. This is a terrific opportunity for parish evangelists to take a break and reignite their relationship with Jesus and one another. It will include two days and one night of rest, prayer, and community.

The cost is $50 for evangelists who work within the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and $100 for evangelists outside the Archdiocese of Cincinnati (invoiced to your parish). This includes all meals and overnight accommodations.

Married couples experiencing a season of infertility are invited to attend the third annual St. Gerard Morning of Reflection on Oct. 14, 2023 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Cincinnati from 8:15 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. The event will include Holy Mass with the opportunity to venerate a first class relic of St. Gerard, the patron saint of mothers, followed by presentations and fellowship. This will be a morning of prayer, reflection, and community.

This is a free event. Please register here no later than October 14, 2023. Walk-ins are welcomed. A light breakfast will be provided following Mass.

All priests, deacons, parish staff, volunteer marriage preparation mentor couples, and NFP instructors are invited to our second annual Marriage & Family In-Service on Oct. 12th from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tipp City, OH.

This year the theme will be the Marriage Catechumenate. The event will focus on the archdiocesan plan to assist parishes in implementing the guidelines of the Catechumenal Pathways for Married Life, the 2022 Vatican document on the Marriage Catechumenate.

Presentations will be offered by archdiocesan staff from the Marriage & Family Evangelization team and local pastors, plus there will be break-out sessions and time for brainstorming creative ways to implement the marriage catechumenate in parish life. The day will begin with Mass and include a light breakfast and lunch.
