Many families of parishes are moving into the Culture Phase of Beacons of Light. During this phase, it will be important to begin to build and sustain a culture for evangelization.

A culture of evangelization will be the fertile ground in which an evangelization plan can be discerned during the planning phases of Beacons of Light. Join us for the Culture for Mission Series to help your Leadership Team, Evangelization Team, and parish leaders form an imagination for mission. This workshop will lead your team through the Process of Evangelization and Discipleship. Participants will leave with a shared language and framework for evangelization and discipleship that will impact every level of their ecclesial culture!

OCIA Corner
It’s Here!

The ritual and study editions of the OCIA are finally arriving. I got mine on Nov. 4th. This is an exciting time for initiation ministry leaders! Spend some time with the new OCIA. *READ IT*. Create a reading plan with assigned sections for every day and gradually make your way through it. Transfer all of your underlining and notes in the margin from your RCIA text over to the OCIA text. The study edition from LTP even has lines in it for taking notes! You cannot lead initiation ministry well without a thorough knowledge of this book.

Formation Opportunities

The next webinar in our Initiate webinar series will be on how to make the Purification & Enlightenment period a spiritual, retreat-like experience, instead of just filling that time with more catechetical sessions (see OCIA 139). Go here to register for the entire webinar series.

Also, Team Initiation has released some new resources that might be helpful to you. They will be hosting a 4-part online speaker series called “Building Blocks of the Catechumenate” for Team Initiation members. They also have a new blog post that provides some basic principles for providing a regional or Family-wide initiation process. See “Uniting the Catechumenate in Merged Parishes.”
