Rekindle the Gift of God |
|
In his meeting with the clergy of the Diocese of Rome at the beginning of Lent, Pope Leo calls pastoral leaders to rekindle the gift of God, to "live a creative responsibility." "The burning fire is the irrevocable gift that the Lord has given us; it is the Spirit who has traced the path of our Church, the history and tradition we have received, and what we ordinarily carry forward in our communities. At the same time, wee must humbly admit that the flame of this fire does not always retain the same vitality and needs to be rekindled. Pressed by sudden cultural changes and the scenarios in which our mission takes place, sometimes assailed by fatigue and the burden of routine, or discouraged by the growing disaffection with faith and religious practice, wee feel the need for this firee to be fuelled and revived."
Pope Leo goes on to speak to pastoral life today and how we might rekindle the gift of God: return to proclaiming the Gospel; work together in communion; foster proximity to the young. His full address offers much upon which to reflect during this Lenten season. |

Archbishop Casey has announced an Archdiocesan Synod which will take place in the coming two years. A diocesan synod is a time of prayer and listening to the Holy Spirit and to one another, culminating in a general assembly with representatives of the clergy, vowed religious, and laity to assist the local bishop.
Synod 2027 will be an engagement of our whole archdiocese to consider what the Holy Spirit may be asking of the Church of Cincinnati at this moment. The goal will be to discern needs and recommend pastoral priorities for the future to Archbishop Casey.
More details will be forthcoming in spring 2026. In the meantime, please pray for the fruitfulness of Synod 2027. |

As part of the Beacons of Light pastoral planning process to best arrange our many resources – human, financial, physical – to better pursue the God-given mission of sharing the Gospel throughout our archdiocese, all Families of Parishes will participate in Family Unity Discernment, including single-parish Families and those Families who have already unified canonically. This is a comprehensive process that will begin in Spring 2026 and unfold deanery by deanery. |

More details will be available soon, but in the meantime, you can find general information and the tools necessary to begin this work here so you have a head start on the process. |

There is something special about a church that is full for the celebration of the liturgy. Many Families of Parishes have adjusted their Mass schedule, resulting in fuller churches, a greater sense of the community at worship, and time for priests to be present with their people after Mass. The 2025 October Mass count provides insights into increased participation and the impact of adjusted schedules. Learn More > |

At its best, faith impacts life. This is the principle behind Impact, a monthly resource to form people as disciples and good stewards who share their gifts and faith, making an impact in their lives and the life of the world. Each month, Impact focuses on themes found in the Sunday readings, connecting Mass with the call to discipleship, growing as good stewards, and sharing faith in daily life. act may be used in your bulletin, on your website, or sent in email blasts to parishioners. Become a Community of Salt and Light |
|
Salt and Light is a full day or three-part Love in Action opportunity to help your parish family Love in Action team understand why the vision of charity & justice is important, how this vision has developed in the history of the Church, what are the larger and small local organizations with which your parish can cooperate, and how to build on what you already have going on in your parishes (along with your resources of time, talent, and treasure) to create a growing vision of Love in Action in your parish family.
These programs can be offered anywhere in the Archdiocese, and the plan is that representatives from multiple families of parishes will attend each offering. |

Join Archbishop Casey and the priests and faithful of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati for the annual Chrism Mass, celebrated on Holy Tuesday. In this once-a-year Holy Week liturgy, the archbishop will bless the Oils of the Sick and Catechumens and consecrate the Sacred Chrism to be used in sacramental celebrations throughout the archdiocese in the coming year. The priests will also renew the promises made at their ordination. All are welcome (especially those recently anointed or initiated, or those preparing for Christian Initiation in the coming year) to share in this unique liturgy, and it’s a great opportunity for families to experience our local Church gathered in prayer!

We often lump the thresholds of discipleship into one big bucket. If the journey of discipleship is lifelong, it makes sense that each threshold of that journey will require different levels of formation, accompaniment, and training. Join us as we break open the thresholds of Beginning Disciple, Growing Disciple, and Missionary Disciple. Together we will imagine new ways to accompany people through the thresholds of discipleship and commission them for mission.
