Mid-Month Update
New Ritual Book: Order of the Anointing of the Sick and of Their Pastoral Care
The USCCB’s Committee on Divine Worship has announced the confirmation of the English translation of the Order of the Anointing of the Sick and of their Pastoral Care and the Spanish translation of the Ritual de la UnciΓ³n de los enfermos y de su atenciΓ³n pastoral by the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.

Archbishop Timothy Broglio, President of the USCCB, subsequently issued a decree of promulgation, indicating that these rites may be used from February 11, 2026 (memorial of Our Lady of Lourdes and World Day of the Sick) and must be used as of April 5, 2026 (Easter Sunday).
Golden Jubilee Masses: Sept 6 & 7

Couples celebrating a jubilee wedding anniversary (25th, 50th, 55th, 60th, etc.) are invited to Mass with Archbishop Casey on September 6th (Dayton) or 7th (Cincinnati). Family members are welcome to attend as well, and a special blessing will be offered to the jubilarian couples.  Couples should RSVP using the online form by Aug 25.

Parish leaders are asked to share this information and the link below with jubilee couples (or the parish in general) using social media, bulletin, emails, etc. beginning immediately throughout the summer.

Breakfast with Deacon Royce
Sat, June 21, 10am St. Bernard Church

Join Deacon Royce Winters, Director of the Office of African-American Pastoral Ministries, for breakfast on June 21 and a conversation and reflection on the beauty, depth, and contributions of Black spirituality within the Catholic tradition.  Music ministers, liturgy committee members, parish council members, and other parish leaders are invited to deepen their understanding and appreciation for cultural diversity within the Body of Christ.

The event is free, but please RSVP for space and meal planning.
November 1 & 2

Since November 1st - the Solemnity of All Saints - falls on a Saturday in 2025, there is no obligation to attend Mass.  An evening Mass (after 3pm) on Sat, Nov 1 should be for All Souls' Day. Precedence is given to the β€œfeast of precept” (usually translated as holy day of obligation) -  in this case, a Sunday - favoring the celebration of the day carrying an obligation for the faithful to attend Mass.  More information can be found on the USCCB website.
