JANUARY 2024

Want to learn more about Beacons of Light and how this process will enable your parish to continue to fulfill the mission of the Church in the 21st century?

Parish leaders – e.g. council and commission members, staff members, ministry leaders, et al. – are particularly invited to participate in a Beacons of Light Information Session to hear from archdiocesan leadership and ask questions.

Sessions will be offered in each of the six deaneries with a few online options as well.

(Should winter weather cause trouble, in-person sessions may be converted to online with 24 hours notice.)

Families of Parishes continue work on the five phases of the Pastoral Planning Pathway.  Most Families have finished the detailed work of Phase 1 (Leadership) and are now working on Phase 2 (Vision).

Each Family of Parishes is asked to submit a Progress Report by March 1, 2024, focused on the 31 parameters of Beacons of Light and their progress.  Each pastor, pathway lead, and liaison received a link to their Family's unique reporting tool.

GOOD NEWS!

Sunday Mass Attendance Up 4.5% across the Archdiocese

Sunday Mass attendance increased in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati 4.5% from October 2022 to October 2023, continuing a rebound in participation since the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021 we saw more than a 52% return, another 6.5% in 2022, and 4.5% in 2023. While we remain down from our 2019 pre-pandemic attendance, three years of increase is a strong and encouraging trend for our archdiocese that will hopefully continue as Families of Parishes focus on the vision for the future and the “Why” at the root of the Beacons of Light project: “To proclaim the Gospel and make disciples in this particular time and place.” Participation in the Eucharist, and in particular Sunday Mass, is a foundational principle in Beacons of Light.

Check out your parish, Family, or deanery and learn more about trends in the archdiocese.

The Parish Vitality Report was published October 1, 2023.  With it, a survey of the faithful was offered to which over 2,200 responses were received through December 2023.  These responses will inform the resources, formation, and support provided for local leaders as they collectively discern the best path forward for their Family of Parishes.  Thanks to all who took the time to read the report and offer their thoughts via the survey.

Impact is a monthly resource to encourage and equip your people to live as disciples and grow as good stewards. The February issue of Impact is now available in PDF, Jpeg, and digital format. Download Impact
